Tatkal Timings – Understand Them to Book Tickets Successfully

With more and more people opting trains, the railway improved its facilities offering easy and quick booking of tickets online. Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation or IRCTC offers the online facility to book tickets for any trains to any place. It enables one to open an account by registering one’s name with the mobile number and access the website, which offers booking of tickets for any class and tatkal booking.

When the general booking of tickets can be done from 00.30 to 11.30 hours, the tatkal timings are fixed at 10 am to 11 am and 11 am to 12 pm for the AC and non AC class respectively.

Tatkal Timings and Ticket Availability

Since the tatkal tickets are offered 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the trains, one has to plan and be ready for the tickets, which get sold out quickly. However, Indian Railways exercises some caution to travel agents and IRCTC agents by barring them from booking tickets for half an hour during the stipulated timings allotted for tatkal.

Once the tatkal reservation timings get over, the facility accepts normal booking of tickets. The tatkal charges are high when compared to the normal fare, but the tickets ensure seats or berths to travel comfortably.
